Another
museum box, this time for the original manuscript music score for Showboat,
raised design depicting the first bar of the opening of the musical, onlaid
Oasis, blind tooled and gold tooled design on front and back cover.
How do you protect your $50.000 investment? Boxes, boxes, boxes.....these
are done in 1/2 leather with 22gold tooled spines, a good protection for
your modern first or manuscript;
and
these are done a bit more elaborate, shown
here sideways, the trays edged with leather and later covered with Duval
paper.
Lady
Chaterley's Lover, bound in full medium brown Oasis with onlays of light
and dark brown Oasis, blind ruled lines. This is a limited first edition
signed by D. H. Lawrence.
For
this Museum box protecting a signed first edition of Yeats, I have chosen
a lemon goatskin and sterling silver corners salvaged from an old wallet.
The color of the leather is reminiscent of the color used for the paper
cover of the book.
Pasiphae,
a short play inscribed by Montherlant, bound in brown Oasis with inlays
of black calf and the onlaid design of a bull tan calf, grecian style,
to echo the legend. This was done for a Boston bookdealer, reference available
on request.
